The Department of Mathematics is one among five Departments to begin functioning with the inception of the college in 1996. The Department firmly believes that the level of education is determined by the knowledge gained during the course of study rather than the percentage scored.

The mission of the department is to produce graduates who possess logical thinking, skill in Mathematics and instill in them an urge to be actively involved in research. The department also provides students a rigorous training which enables them to either pursue PG or take up examinations which require Mathematical skills. The staff of the department works with the objective to help the student master both Mathematical theories and their practical applications, thus providing a competitive edge in any career. The department has the credit of producing many centum in the university examinations.

Association Activities

“Brainmat” the association of the department of Mathematics serve as a platform for the students to showcase their creativity and inherent talents.The association activities provide the students a chance to bring out their organizational skills and to work together as a team. The department magazine “Matik Spark” is an avenue which encourages the students to explore the vast realm of application of mathematics and also serves as a means of appreciating the beauty of “The Queen of all Sciences”. The department also brings out its newsletter “N-Dimensions”.

To foster the spirit of research and to enlighten the academia as to the core areas of ongoing research, the department also organized “International Symposium on Current Research in Mathematics” in the year 2010. The aim of the department is to make the students understand the practical applications of the course content. To emphasis this, the students are motivated to bring out projects on various topics. Also statistical survey reports on socio-economic conditions of nearby villages are compiled. These are a few innovative methods adopted by the department to take the subject beyond the four walls to the real world.
