About the College

Kumararani Meena Muthiah College of Arts and Science was founded in the year 1996, under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Mrs. Meena Muthiah, Secretary & Correspondent, Kumararani of Chettinad. The College aims to inculcate a sense of moral and cultural superiority of our nation in young minds, thereby making them responsible citizens to suit the national and global needs

The college has grown today with 11 UG and 3 PG courses in Shift I and 2 UG courses in Shift II driving the force to empower, enhance and propel the students towards techno savvy transformation.

VISION

Dr. Mrs. Meena Muthiah, started the college with a great vision to give knowledge, power and self reliance through education fused with national pride and patriotic values. Her foresight was to provide value based education that leads to the path of ethical principles of life.

Her dream is to enhance the academic status of the college to a prestigious research institution by channelizing all the physical, material and intellectual resources and to set standard for an exceptional academic journey leading to individual transformation.

Milestones of our college

1996

  • College was established with five courses under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Mrs.MEENA MUTHIAH, Secretary and Correspondent ,Kumararani of Chettinad. Courses
    UG: B.Sc Mathematics, Microbiology, Electronics And Communication Science,
    Computer Science. B.Com General.

2000

  • Commencement of B.C.A and First Graduation Day Celebrations. Shifted to permanent building at Crescent Avenue Road, Gandhi Nagar, Adyar.

2001

  • College was transformed into Co-education Institution. Commencement of BBA and B.Com Corporate Secretaryship. Installation of Extension Service Units – NSS and ROTARCT CLUBs.

2002

  • Expansion of infrastructure with state of art – KRMM A/C Auditorium. PG STATUS: M.SC Biotechnology.

2003

  • Installation Of Youth Red Cross And Nature Club.

2004

  • Research wing of the college was initiated Commencement of M.Sc Information Technology. First Cycle of NAAC Accreditation..

2005

  • Commencement of B.Sc Biotechnology.
  • Ist cycle of NAAC Accreditation

2006

  • Decennial Year Celebrations. First International Conference Organised by Department of Business Administration. First M.A.M. MuthiahKumararajah Of ChettinadVolley Ball Tournament. First Industry Institute Interface was organised by Department of Commerce

2007

  • Internal Quality Assurance Cell Was Constituted Commencement of B.A. English Literature Open Air Theatre – ChettinadKalaiarangam was built.

2009

  • Dr. Meena Muthiah Study Centre For Entrepreneurship – Research And Activity Unit Of KRMMC was Launched. Best Library Award Bestowed on the College.

2010

  • International Conference organised by Mathematics Department.

2011

  • Commencement of Shift II with 2 UG Courses B.Com Accounting &Finance and BCA. Certificate Courses As Value Add On Were Introduced.

2012

  • LEO CLUB was installed. Vocational Training Classes For First Years was introduced Kumararajah Premier League Colleges Vs Corporate Cricket Tournament – An ISR
    Initiative.

2013

  • Certificate courses revamped for Second Years Campus To Corporate – Pre Placement Training Program was initiated for all Final Year Students. Inter School State Level Hockey Tournament was conducted. College campus was brought under Surveillance with CCTV Cameras. Launch of Audio Visual Room.

2014 – 2015

  • Board of 16 Directors under various Portfolios were designated
  • Wing for Spiritual and Skill development practices
  • Introduction of PEP talk by Gurukul for imparting human values
  • Parent Industry Institute Interface was organised by Placement and Career Guidance Cell and IQAC of the college.
  • First Doctorate of the College – Dr. B. Hema, Corporate Secretaryship Department under the guidance of Dr.P.T. Vijayshree, Principal.

2015 – 2016

  • NAAC Reaccreditation – Second Cycle.
  • International Conference organised by Commerce Department.
  • Public Address system was introduced.
  • Yet another feather in the cap- Best College Award for Imparting Value Based Education.
  • Commerce Lab for Banking and Financial Services was set up.

2016 – 2017

  • Celebration of BIDECENNIAL CELEBRATIONS
  • A Centrefor Business Excellence was officially launched and collaboration with Finmark
  • Collaboration with ICT Academy
  • Celebration of Foundation Day by IQAC
  • Abhilekha, a record of events of the college during the year was released by IQAC

2017 – 2018

  • Commencement of new courses B.Sc. (Vis.Com) and M.Com(Banking & Management)
  • ERP for Administrative purposes.
  • MOU was signed between Centre for Medical Genetics and Department of Life Sciences

2018 -2019

  • Indian Book of Record for the Longest Hand wash drive in 148 sessions in 102 schools reaching out to 12778 children was awarded
  • NCC (1 unit) was set up
  • MOUs were signed

The college administration has various statutory committees to execute the activities and duties of various portfolios. The chairman of all the committees is the Principal.  All the activities of the committees are discussed with the Principal and it is executed after the approval of the Secretary and Correspondent. Regular meetings are held and reports are maintained by the directors.  They are supported by the coordinators and members from various departments for accomplishment of the work assigned.
